Chief Engineer PHE Ahmed Muzaffar Lankar Thursday tendered his resignation after allegedly being insulted and humiliated by National Conference Minister and MLA Handwara Chodhri Ramzan during a meeting at Civil Secretariat Srinagar.
“I have seen myself quite a number of times how bureaucrats tolerated the insults of the Ministers and bore the humilitation and never did utter a word. I am not like them and I cant compromise with my principles, he said.
Lankar made it clear that Ramzan did not slap him as was reported by in some section of social media. However, he said that Ramzan tried to slap him but was stopped by other officials present in the meeting.
Before the start of the meeting, Minister for Transport displayed an aggressive behaviour and we all were shocked the way he behaved during the meeting. He demanded extra funds for his constituency and when I conveyed to him that funds have already been released for his constituency, he lost his state of mind and showered volley of abuses upon me. I could not tolerate this insult and the language he used offended my sentiments and I tendered my resignation, Lankar said adding that he is not going to succumb to the pressure of anybody.
