Kupwara: A soldier was killed in a gun-fight at Leepa Valley near Line of Control in this north Kashmir district on Wednesday, officials said.
They said a group of 5-6 militants who had sneaked into this part of Kashmir near Eagle Post, a week back were hiding in the forests, soon after Army cordoned off the area. Militants tried to flee. However, their attempt was foiled and troops engaged them in a gunfight, officials said.
They said in the ensuing gunfight which was on when this report was file a soldier identified as Naik Damodar Thapa was killed.
