SRINAGAR: A policeman Monday shot dead two women and later on killed himself using his service rifle, police said. The killings took place early Monday at Kalakote in frontier Rajouri district.
“A policeman during the night left the police station with his service weapon and entered into a nearby house, killing a woman and her sister using his service rifle,” a police official at police control room, Jammu said. “The policeman is believed to have also shot himself dead after carrying out the killings.”
According to the official, their bodies were found inside the house and has been sent for post-mortem by the police.
Police has seized the service rifle of the constable and registered a case to initiate investigations into the incident.
Reports said the slain women were wife and sister-in-law of a special police officer (SPO) working with police.
Other than regular police constables, SPOs are engaged by police on a nominal monthly salary of 50 U.S. dollars. The SPOs assist police and army during the operations against militants in region
