SRINAGAR: With the Administration signalling ease in COVID-19 restrictions, the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council on Wednesday resumed sporting activities at its cricket and football training academies.
The registered trainees and coaches of these academies returned to their respective sports fields after months and were seen enjoying taking part in various drills and training methods.
The JKSC in a statement said, “Both the academies conducted their first training session after a gap of a few months. Trainees were thrilled to resume their favourite sporting activities.”
The Sports Council further remarked that a glow on the athletes’ faces “said it all”.
The move came as the Secretary, Sports Council, Ms Nuzhat Gul, directed resumption of sporting activities at the cricket and football academies of JKSC. The Secretary had insisted that coaching classes for all outdoor activities should resume with strict adherence to COVID protocols and SOPs.
Meanwhile, indoor sports activities, close-contact sports remain suspended in the UT of J&K since April 6. The Indoor Stadium in Srinagar has also been turned into an emergency COVID Care Center.
