No Compromise Over Demands, It Will Be Final Round: JCC
Srinagar- The state government has invited the leaders of Joint Consultative Committee of various employees unions for a fresh round of talks on the latters demands, which include enhancement of retirement age to 60 years. The move is seen as an attempt to preempt any fresh showdown over the issues before the end of the September 30 deadline set last year for fulfilling the employees demands.
Ahead of the Monday meeting, the JCC leaders met here today to decide their strategy for talks with the state government. It was decided that the meeting would be final and employees would not compromise on their demands.
The meeting felt the government in past had made several promises and entered into written agreement with the JCC leaders on September 15 last year. However, the state authorities resorted to dilly-dallying on their commitments ever since. This has created deep resentment among the employees, sources said.
The leaders present in the meeting unanimously decided that if government failed to meet the demands of employees, agitation will be initiated throughout the state and the entire responsibility of agitation would lie with the government.
Khursheed Aalam, Abdul Qayoom Wani and Rouf Ahmad will represent the JCC while the government would be represented by the chief secretary, Madhaw Lal, the principal secretary to chief minister, B B Vyas, the commissioner / secretary, Finance, and the secretary, General Administration Department, Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad.
Meanwhile, the JCC sources said, an extraordinary meeting would be held on October 1 to chalk out further strategy in the wake of the Monday meeting with government.
