Srinagar: Coronavirus cases in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday showed a significant decline as 1448 more people, lowest numbers of infected in 50 days, tested positive for the virus. However there was no let up in deaths due to dreaded infection as 25 more people succumbed to it during the last 24 hours.
According to the officials, 995 fresh cases of coronavirus were reported from Kashmir Valley and the remaining 453 were detected in Jammu division thus taking the total number of people infected since the outbreak of pandemic last year in J&K to 292360.
About the fresh fatalities reported Saturday, the officials said that the virus claimed lives of 13 more people in Jammu and 12 in the Valley pushing the overall death toll to 3939.
Giving district wise details of new Covid-19 cases, the officials said that Srinagar reported 222, Baramulla 140, Budgam 136, Pulwama 107, Kupwara 125, Anantnag 95, Bandipora 43, Ganderbal 54, Kulgam 59, Shopian 14, Jammu 106, Udhampur 28, Rajouri 80, Doda 51, Kathua 39, Samba 11, Kishtwar 28, Poonch 59, Ramban 33 and Reasi detected 18 fresh cases of infection.
Also, the officials said, 2615 more patients have recovered—842 from Jammu Division and 1773 from Kashmir, leaving the total covid-19 active cases to 33276 in J&K—12229 in Jammu and 21047 in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the officials said that one new confirmed case of mucormycosis was reported on Saturday, raising the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 15 in J&K.
