Srinagr: The aide of Indian guru Ramdev has stoked fresh controversy by saying that Kashmir could be made an independent country. This he has stated after his controversial meeting with the Pakistan-based Lashkar ideologue Hafiz Muhammad Saeed.
Ved Pratap Vaidik, the journalist who recently made headlines by meeting Jamaat-ud-Dawa Chief Hafiz Saeed in Lahore and faced the wrath of Congress party has reportedly said in an interview to Pakistan’s Dawn News that if Kashmiris of both India and Pakistan were ready, then Kashmir could be made independent. He also pressed for more power to the region.
The journalist later defended himself by saying that he favored more independence for Kashmir and not its secession. According to Vaidik, the people of Kashmir should get the same freedom as the people of Delhi. He said he was in favor of freedom for the people of Kashmir but not its secession. “If I call Kashmir should separate from India it means I am saying my head should separate from my body,” Vaidik’s purported twitter handle posted late Tuesday.
Asadudin Owaisi, a firebrand Muslim MP from Andhra Pradesh, during a twitter conversation asked of a Muslim Kashmiri journalist, “If you had interviewed Hafiz skies would have fallen. This is the difference.”
