Srinagar: As many as 62 more people succumbed to coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday while 3969 fresh cases of infection were reported from the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to the officials, 39 more people died of Covid-19 in Jammu and 23 others in Kashmir Valley on Wednesday raising the total fatality count since the outbreak of pandemic last year in J&K to 3355.
Among the victims from the Valley, the officials said included a woman from Baramulla, who died at JLNM hospital Rainawari here. Also, a 59-year-old woman died at CD hospital here, nine days after she was admitted to facility, they said.
The officials said that a 70-year-old man from Wadwan Budgam died at SKIMS Bemina, four days after admitted to the facility.
A 45-year-old man from Litter Pulwama and an 80-year-old man from Inder died at District Hospital Pulwama while a man from NS Pora died ten days after he was admitted to District hospital Kulgam, they said.
Regarding the fresh cases detected on Wednesday, officials said that 1375 were reported from Jammu division and 2594 from Kashmir Valley, taking the total number of people infected by the virus across J&K to 255888.
Giving district-wise details, the officials said that Srinagar reported 675, Baramulla 371, Budgam 411, Pulwama 171, Kupwara 190, Anantnag 311, Bandipora 113, Ganderbal 118, Kulgam 149, Shopian 85, Jammu 493, Udhampur 154, Rajouri 142, Doda 64, Kathua 158, Samba 112, Kishtwar 25,Poonch 106, Ramban 68and Reasi 53 new cases of coronavirus.
Moreover, they said, 4338 people have recovered in the last 24 hours and now the number of active cases stands at 50494 in J&K—20972 in Jammu and 29522 in Kashmir.
