SRINAGAR- Noted Right to Information activist and senior member of J&K RTI Movement Mohammad Ramzan Khan breathed his last in Srinagar on Sunday morning. Khan was 70. Originally from Gurez valley of Bandipora district Khan had been putting up at Kralpora Srinagar for the last 11 years.
Chairman J&K RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat described him as a committed social activist who worked throughout his life for promoting Shina culture and ensuring transparency and good governance through RTI Act.
Mohammad Ramzan Khan was one of the founding members of the J&K RTI Movement and its trustee as well. He was also a founder member and trustee of Srinagar based Environmental Policy Group (EPG) as well.
Former State Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) G R Sufi , Convener EPG Faiz Bakshi, Chairman Peoples Forum Syed Nasarullah and retired Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) O P Sharma have also condoled his death. They described Khan as a great naturalist who was always concerned about Kashmir’s environment, heritage and culture.
The deceased was also a known Shina language activist who played a great role in bringing shina language into school curriculum. He was General Secretary of Dard Shin Development Organisation (DSDO).
