SRINAGAR: On the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s maiden visit to J&K, almost all the separatist groups here have called for shutdown and protest demonstrations. The prime minister will arrive in the state on July 4 to inaugurate many projects including Uri Hydro Power Project II.
The statements issued by major separatist groups including, Hurriyat Conference G, Hurriyat Conference M, Hurriyat Conference JK and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front sought peoples support to make July 4 strike a success.
Geelani in his statement urged upon the people to observe shutdown in wake of Indian Prime Ministers arrival so that a signal could be sent to International community that people of Kashmir dont want to align themselves with the Union of India.
We have no personal animosity with Narendra Modi but he is arriving in Kashmir as the Prime Minister of that country which has enslaved us and whose army is indulging in death and destruction of Kashmiri people in a planned manner, Geelani stated adding that it is a game plan of Modi to settle Kashmiri Pandits in three isolated cities in Kashmir on Israeli pattern.
Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also appealed people to observe shutdown on the arrival of Indias Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The spokesperson of the amalgam said that even though hurriyat refrains from calling for strike on Fridays, but sometimes it becomes inevitable keeping in view the larger interest of the freedom struggle.
Another faction of the separatist amalgam, Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir has said that Modi was coming here as a prime minister of a country “which has usurped the right of self-determination of the residents and subjugated them”.
Those who will welcome Naredra Modi on his arrival are the paid agents of India and the worst enemies of the ongoing freedom movement, HCJK said in a statement.
Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front has also appealed people to observe complete shutdown on the arrival of Modi. In a statement, the party said that Indian prime minister represents the state of India which is responsible for all tyrannical acts, oppressive behaviors and curbs on the freedom of Jammu Kashmir.
