Srinagar: The people in Kashmir valley continue to enjoy pleasant weather even as the night temperature remains few notches below normal, officials said on Tuesday.
A meteorological department official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 9.0 degree Celsius against 7.6 degree Celsius on the previous night. The temperature was 0.3 degree Celsius below normal for this time of the season in the summer capital, he said.
Qazigund recorded a low of 6.6 degree Celsius against previous night’s 5.6 degree Celsius which was below normal by 1.2 degree Celsius, the official said.
Mercury settled at 4.0 degree Celsius against 2.1 degree Celsius on the previous night in Pahalgam. The temperature was below 0.4 degree Celsius during this time of the season in the famous tourist resort in South Kashmir, he said.
Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 7.2 degree Celsius against normal of 8.1 degree Celsius previous and last night’s 1.5 degree Celsius, the official said.
Kupwara recorded a low of 5.1 degree Celsius against 4.2 degree Celsius on the previous night which is below normal by 2.7 degree Celsius for this time of the season in north Kashmir district, the official said.
Gulmarg skiing resort in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, recorded a low of 4.0 degree Celsius against 4.5 degree Celsius on the previous night, the official said. It was 0.2 degree Celsius below normal in the resort, the official added.
The MeT office has predicted “dry and warmer” weather till 3rd May in both J&K and Ladakh.
