Srinagar: Strongly condemning the confiscation of personal property of a Hizb Commander, by the authorities, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani termed the move as political vengeance.
Geelani said that one of the sons of Ghulam Rasool Khan of Livar, Pahalgam, Ghulam Nabi Khan Alias Saifullah Khalid, alias Amir Khan is associated with the freedom movement of Kashmir and he is now residing in Azad Kashmir from the last 25 years.
Saifullah Khalid alias Amir Khan is wanted in any fake cases by the NIA and as he is now residing in Azad Kashmir, NIA has so far failed to capture him. Now NIA has adopted a new policy to harass his family by trying to forcibly seize the personal property of his wife and his old and ailing father, Geelani said in a statement issued here.
But the fact is that Amir Khan doesnt have any property of his own and the property (8 Kanals of paddy land) for which the seizure order passed by a Delhi court, has been transferred to the wife of Amir Khan Miss Fatimah as her Maher on her marriage day in front of witnesses on 15 December 1971 and it is clearly mentioned in the Nikah Nama (Marriage Agreement) of 15 December 1971. The same has also been confirmed by the Islamabad (Anantnag) court. There is no right of Amir Khan on this property so NIA doesnt have any legal justification to seize it, Geelani said.
Geelani said that the family members of the pro-freedom persons are being bullied and harassed by the administration in every possible way and the actions of NIA are the open and clear revenge tactics which doesnt have any justification.
It is the arrogance of power which is being used to suppress the just and peaceful voice of Kashmiri people, the pro-freedom leader said.
He said that the local administration is actively and silently implementing these cruel policies of India and the NIA and SIT are jointly busy in fabricating the pro-freedom people.
Geelani said that the most surprising aspect of this situation is that the people who have finished their jail terms are again implicated in the same false cases and are shifted to the Tihar jail. It is the worst kind of human rights violation to implicate a person in the same case in which he has completed his jail term years back.
