SRINAGAR: An arts undergrad student Monday alleged that an Army officer from an army camp in Budgam was harassing him “unnecessarily” for past six months, leading to thought of joining militancy.
Tajamul Ahmed Dar son of Ghulam Mohiudin resident of Gotapora Soibugh, a II-year student from Degree College Bemina, says that an Army Major namely Pragh from 2RR Fox Company stationed at Dhermuna Army camp was routinely raiding his house and trying to implicate him as a militant.
I am the father of one little girl. The frequent raids conducted by the Army Major are turnihng out to be ugly for my family including my wife and mother. I dont understand why this Army Major is targeting me despite the fact that neither I have been a stone pelter nor a militant, he said.
Tajamul Dar added that a few days before the said Army Major crossed his limits. The Army Major along with his soldiers barged into my house and destroyed the crop in our backyard . When I asked him why he was doing so, he told me that that he had information of my dumping some arms and ammunitions in the house, he said adding that the locality knew that he had never been in any kind of links with militants.
Tajamul Dar, 20, said that he informed local police post about the frequent Army raids who said that they cant interfere into the affairs of the Army. I appeal police chief and top Army brass to save me from this Army officer. He is forcing me to leave my house and family and join militant ranks. I am innocent and never can harm anyone, he said.
When contacted, a top army official assured that the matter would be looked into. (CNS)
