Villagers Donate Rs 6L For Construction Of The Road
Bandipora: Owing to the lackadaisical approach of the administration, residents of Banilpora village in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district have donated Rs 6 lakh for the construction of a road leading to their area.
The residents said that they collected donations of around Rs 6 lakhs and constructed the road leading to their area (Molvi-Mohalla) from Banilpora.
They said that they approached authorities many times, but the authorities never bothered to address the issue.
“It took us around three years to collect the money and construct the road,” they said.
Jabar Khan, a local said that he had informed the administration about the issue several times but nothing happened which forced the villagers to raise funds to construct the road on their own.
“We are very poor and can hardly feed our children and cannot afford such a huge amount all the time for the development of our locality. It is now the responsibility of administration to look into this and do the required work,” Hakeem Khan another local said.
A female local panch from the area said that the people are living below the poverty line, while the area has been lacking all basic facilities for a long time.
“Though they have elected me to end their sufferings and miseries but my efforts are also not working. This is a shame for the administration that even living below the poverty line these people had to raise funds on their own to construct the road,” she said.
Locals appealed to DC Bandipora to pay due attention to their area so that their sufferings and miseries will come to an end. (KNO)
