ISLAMABAD: Terming the clash between Tehreek-e-Minhaj-ul-Quran (TMQ) workers and Punjab Police in Lahore a revenge attack by the Sharifs, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and TMQ Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri has vowed that a first information report (FIR) will be filed against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Shahbazs cabinet over the deaths of supporters of TMQ and PAT.
Addressing a press conference through a video link from Toronto earlier on Tuesday, Qadri said that eight PAT workers were martyred while 83 were injured outside Minhajul Quran Secretariat when the police opened straight fire on them.
I congratulate people who fought with such peace regardless of how horribly they were treated, said the Canada-based Pakistani scholar, alleging that the purpose of this state terrorism was to avenge his support for Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Pakistan Army.
Qadri appealed to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif to protect the lives of citizens from tyrants.
I will not hesitate to embrace martyrdom and I will not allow the voice against the corrupt system to be gagged. Not an iota of harm has been caused by the Secretariat barrier to even a single person of the locality so far, he said.
Qadri claimed that the government was resorting to chaos to distract the nations attention from Pakistan Armys Zarb-e-Azb operation in North Waziristan Agency (NWA).
I want to inform them that this movement can never be stopped. There will be Qisas of lives lost according to the Sharia, Qadri said.
Speaking about the barricades outside his house, Qadri said the barriers were put in place at the orders of Lahore High Court (LHC) in the presence of Model Town Police nearly three years ago, adding that the police were glad over the sustained safety of the area owing to the barrier.
The removal of the barriers is nothing but an effort by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and their band to allow the terrorists a safe passage to my residence so that an act of terrorism can be made possible against me, the PAT chief alleged.
Moreover, Qadri questioned that if police were there to remove barriers from outside his residence in Model Town then why they opened fire at the gate of his house.
They destroyed the generator at my house and shut down all electricity. How does this link with the barriers? he asked.
