Srinagar: Police on Saturday arrested ten youth for their alleged involvement in Friday’s clashes near the encounter site in south Kashmir’s Kakpora town on Friday in which eight people, including a woman was injured.
According to a police spokesperson, some “miscreants” from Samboora had shouted anti-national slogans and attempted to disrupt state forces by pelting stones on them near Kakpora when the encounter in the area was going on. The miscreants, he said, were video graphed on spot and later on identified by police.
“Acting swiftly police station Pampore arrested 10 identified miscreants and booked them under relevant sections of law. Efforts are on for the arrest of others involved persons and they will be booked accordingly,” he said.
Warning stern action against the stone pelters, the police spokesperson said that these incidents will not be tolerated and parents should refrain their children from indulging in such activities.
Pertinently, three local militants were killed by government forces in an encounter in Kakpora area of Pulwama on Friday. Police had claimed that two of three killed militants were involved in an attack on a BJP leader’s house in Nowgam area of Srinagar a day earlier in which a policeman was killed.
The killing of militants had set off violent protests near the gunfight site in Kakpora leaving at least eight people injured with pellet and bullet injuries, including a woman.
