Srinagar: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested a revenue department official from Tangmarg area of Baramulla district for demanding and accepting bribe.
Naib Tehsildar, Bashir Ahmad Hajam was caught red-handed by the personnel of the anti-graft body while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000, an ACB spokesperson said Saturday. The ACB, he said, had laid a trap for the corrupt revenue official after receiving a complaint alleging that he was demanding a bribe of Rs 30,000 for issuing revenue extracts to the complainant whose mother had sold six kanals of land from a 12 kanal patch at Chandil, Tangmarg, Baramulla.
On the receipt of the complaint, the ACB spokesperson said that a case FIR No. 05 u/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered in Police Station ACB North Kashmir.
“Subsequently, a trap was laid and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe Rs. 30,000 from the complainant. The accused was arrested and taken in custody by ACB,” he added.
