Srinagar: Trade body, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Monday demanded restoration of air cargo services at the Srinagar Airport. The services were put on hold owing to up gradation activity going on the runway.
In a statement issued here, KCCI said that owing to the discontinuance of the services an alarming situation had risen as cherry exporters had to face loses due to the suspension of services.
A delegation of KCCI headed by its President Sheikh Ashiq took up the issue immediately with Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Shailendra Kumar on Monday and apprised him of the difficulties the exporters are facing due to the suspension of air cargo services, the statement said.
The Divisional Commissioner felt equally concerned about the situation and took up the issue with all the concerned agencies including Air Force authorities. As a result it has been agreed by the Airlines to pick up the cargo of all sectors so as to avoid any further damage, loss or peril to the exporters, the statement quoting KCCI President said.
The KCCI is expecting cooperation from all the airlines and other related authorities to meet the export exigencies of the exporters, the statement demanded.
KCCI is highly impressed and appreciate the immediate action and the efforts made by the Divisional Commissioner is resolving the issue immediately, the statement concluded.
