Srinagar: The health department has refuted media reports about the death of an elderly man, hours after he was administered a coronavirus vaccine jab in north Kashmir’s Handwara on Saturday last.
According to the block medical officer (BMO) Langate, the septuagenarian— Ghulam Mohammad Ganie died after suffering a cardiopulmonary arrest. Ganie, he said, was suffering from bronchial asthma, hypertension and cardiomegaly.
He said Ganie was administered coronavirus vaccine jab at the Sub-centre Haril at 12:30pm on Saturday.
“The man was kept under observation for 30 minutes and no adverse effects following immunization were reported by the supervisory team headed by Dr Latief Ahmad, Medical Officer,” he said.
He said that the elderly man died three hours after he was given vaccine.
