Srinagar: Human Rights activists Friday castigated government for not removing molestation accused Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman from his chair. Scores of HR activists including the victim appeared in Pratap Park Srinagar and demanded immediate removal of Director Health Services Kashmir.
The activists carrying placards and banners seeking justice for the victim staff nurse alleged that on the name of investigation and probe, government is trying to hush up the case. Director Health Kashmir and other three officials are accused and it is irony that he still occupies the chair. There is ample proof that being in the chair he is interfering in the probe. We demand that he should be removed from his post till probe is completed, a human rights activist Shehlla Rashid said adding that government is acting as a mute spectator and even after constituting a committee to probe the allegations allowed the accused to issue statements in the press.
Another human rights activist Muhammad Ahsan Untoo appealed the doctors to take cognizance of the matter and raise their voice against this molestation issue. I appeal all those doctors who have character and conscience to come forward and seek justice for the victim. If government will shield the culprit, then we will start an agitation in Kashmir and will ask people including students to come on roads and raise voice against the accused, he warned.
Pertinently, Director Health along with other three doctors were book after a staff nurse from South Kashmir accused them of molesting her sexually.
