Srinagar: The residents of Srinagar Saturday rued the dilapidated conditions of the roads across the city saying the roads have turned irksome for the commuters.
Many of the main roads across Srinagar have developed huge potholes, thus adding to the misery of the people.
The commuters said that they are facing tremendous hardships due to the dilapidated roads in most parts of Srinagar. “The roads in summer capital are completely in shambles, which is only consuming the time of the commuters and also damaging their vehicles,” Aamir Manzoor, a commuter said.
The roads that are in dilapidated conditions include in Karan Nagar area outside Sheikh-ul-Aalam hospital, road outside Kashmir Haat, road leading to SMHS hospital through Karan Nagar interiors and in local residential areas.
The road leading to Srinagar Airport is also in dilapidated condition, the locals said.
The commuters have appealed the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department to look into the matter at an earliest so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
Chief Engineer R&B department Kashmir, Er. Showkat Jeelani, said that the urgency is to fill the patches and the process to repair the damaged roads will be completed by the first week of April.
However, Jeelani said that the complete macadamisation process will be started in April. (KNO)
