Srinagar: Militants on Thursday afternoon fired upon a party of army troopers in a forest area of north Kashmirs Kupwara district, officials sources said.
However, no one was injured in the attack, they said.
Quoting sources a GNS report said the troopers from armys 47 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) were busy in repairing telephone line in Keegam forests of the district during which a group of militants appeared and fired upon the troopers.
They said the troopers also took positions but the militants managed to escape. The militants were believed to be three in number.
Soon after the attack, large contingents of troops were rushed to the area and started massive searches to nab the militants, official sources said.
