Srinagar: Police on Thursday received a complaint by a nurse alleging that two senior health officers tried to molest her.
Official sources said that a nurse (name withheld) approached police station Shaheedgunj, complaining that the officers tried to molest her in Srinagar. The Nurse is reportedly posted at a health facility in south Kashmir.
The police is learnt to have started initial inquiry before registering a formal case at Shaheedgunj police station, they said.
In February this year, a case was registered against former Minister of State for Health and senior Congress leader Shabir Ahmad Khan in the same police station.
Khan has been charged under RPC sections of 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
The chargesheet was filed by the police before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar and whether he will be framed or not is to yet to decided by the court.
Khan, a sitting MLA from Rajouri constituency in the 87-member state Legislative Assembly, had resigned as MoS Health on February 7, a day after police registered the case FIR (No. 09/2014) under RPC sections of 354 and 509 based on a complaint by the doctor. (GNS)
