Srinagar, Sept 26- Responding to the queries of some media persons on the sidelines of press conference of the Chief Minister at SKICC, Srinagar, Minister of State for Home, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani dispelled the notion that the militancy related incidents are on the rise stating that there has been a gradual decline of over 30 percent compared to the previous year which itself had witnessed the almost 30% decline compared to the preceding year.
The Minister further asserted that the statistics amply demonstrate that in the last two years, the militancy related incidents have been on decline and civilian killings have also reduced substantially adding that there is considerable improvement in the overall security situation notwithstanding attacks on some elected representatives. He said the police has registered a major breakthrough with the cracking of a city based module involved in attacks on a separatist leader, NC block president and policemen.
He said effective measures have also been taken to counter infiltration adding that the police have also solved a murder case of a sarpanch of Hawoora by arresting some top commanders of a militant outfit. He maintained that militancy related encounters are been handled with utmost caution and consequently collateral damage has been minimized adding that in the last two decades the general public feel much more secure now.
