Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said it arrested two absconders, including a resident of south Kashmir’s Anantnag who was on the run for over three decades after a case was filed against him.
Bashir Ahmad Zagoo of Sagam Kokernag, who was evading his arrest from last 31 years, was arrested by police from Shimla city of Himachal Pradesh on the basis of reliable information, a police spokesperson said Wednesday. Zagoo, he said, was wanted for his involvement in a case FIR number 35/1990 registered at police station Nishat under section 379 RPC.
“The accused has been presented before the Hon’ble court at Srinagar by Police Station Nishat,” he added.
Similarly, the police spokesperson said, another absconder Farooq Ahmad Rajput of Chount Waliwar was arrested by Ganderbal Police after receiving a tip-off. The accused was evading his arrest from July 2019.
“He was wanted by law for his involvement in case FIR number 40/2019 U/S 420, 392, 506, 120B RPC of Police Station Kangan,” he added.
