Srinagar: The army and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police have started massive search operation following the general inputs about the presence of militants in north Kashmir forests, official sources said here on Saturday.
Armys 28 and 18 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and SOG started on Saturday conducted massive searches in Lolab forest of remote Kupwara district following general input about presence of militants.
The snow has started to melt and this is the time when militants start infiltration inside our territory, sources said, adding Armys 21 RR, 6 RR and SOG Handwara have also started searches in Rajwar forest following general inputs about their presence.
Meanwhile, armys 32 RR and SOG also started searches in the neighboring Baramulla district amid intelligence inputs suggesting the presence of militants in Watergam area. The searches were called off later, sources added.
