Srinagar – Reiterating his call for strike on Thursday, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Tuesday welcomed the decision of Kashmir University scholars and students to observe Black Week against the presidents visit to the valley.
With a view to sugar-coating their forced occupation of Kashmir, the Indian policy planners are using the University of Kashmir as a launching pad in which some black-sheep in the campus are providing them all the facilities, Geelani said.
Welcoming a delegation of University faculty and non-faculty members, Geelani said, The stand of the University scholars and students vis-à-vis the freedom movement has remained unambiguous. In keeping with their birthright, they proved it time and again that India has not been able to dent their resolve nor can it do it in future.
With the presence of president, the University convocation is being turned into an imperialist show to hoodwink the world that the scholars and students were satisfied with Indian occupation and that they were a part of the Indian mainstream, he said, adding the function had been converted into a military operation with the closure of the campus for three days.
Geelani students were allegedly being pressurized to ensure their presence and show respect to the national anthem or else their career would come under cloud. He warned the black sheep in the campus against what he termed as harming the national cause. (KNS)
