SRINAGAR: Asserting that the government has undertaken several measures for upgrading the infrastructure capacities of the Technical Education Department, the Minister of State for Technical Education, Vikar Rasool has said that the same would go long way in providing technical skills to the youth so that they can set up their own income generating units and help in creating employment opportunities for themselves and others.
The Minister was addressing officers during a review meeting convened to discuss the status of construction of various polytechnics and other related infrastructural assets being created for upgradation of the technical education department.
Secretary Technical Education, Parveez Malik, Director Technical Education, Parveez Khateeb, MD Housing Board, Ram Paul, MD JKPCC, Baghat, Secretary Technical Education Board, Chief Engineer, R&B Kashmir and other senior officers of Technical Education and various executing agencies were present in the meeting.
Vikar directed the officers to speed up the work on the various polytechnics being constructed across the state, so that they can be formally inaugurated and thrown open to the prospective students. He said that the measure would go a long way in augmenting the Technical Education Department so that the youth living in various far-flung and remote areas are provided the much needed technical education for enabling them to set up their own income generating units besides making them technically qualified for getting absorbed in various local and multinational companies.
The Minister said that the government has already sent several hundred youth to different states for equipping them with the latest technical knowledge so that they can be absorbed in various companies outside the state as well. He said that the government has identified technical education as one of the thrust sectors and in this regard several schemes have been launched for the augmentation of the same.
