SRINAGAR: The 7th National Icestock Sports Championship 2020-21 concluded here at Ice Rink, Gulmarg on Sunday. Jammu and Kashmir emerged as overall champions and Ladakh as runner-ups.
After holding Districts and Regional Championships, the Indian Icestock Sports Federation conducted the national level Championship for all 3 age groups of both genders at Gulmarg from 28th Jan. to 31st Jan 2021.
Nearly 280 boys and girls from 20 states of different age categories took part in these fascinating and thrilling Championships.
Javed ul Rehman, Asstt. Director Tourism, was the Chief Guest on the Closing Function, and distributed the medals among the winners and runners up teams. In his speech, Mr. Javed assured his full support to the association in its future endeavours.
He also expressed his joy for holding Championships among athletes coming from all 20 states at different levels. He appreciated the Icestock Sports Federation for hosting the Championship at the grand level which will be followed by extravaganza 2nd Khelo India National Winter Games.
President, Indian Icestock Sports Federation and J&K Icestock Sports Association, thanked GDA and Tourism Deptt. for providing the logistic support and also expressed his gratitude to J&K Tourism department for sponsoring all the grand events.
President, Indian Icestock Sports Federation, expressed his wishes and requested Sarmad Hafeez Sahab, Secretary to Government, Tourism and Culture Department, to sanction one artificial turf so that the Sports like Ice skating, Ice Hockey and Icestock will be played during the summer seasons as well.
Indian Icestock Sports Federation is holding a short coaching camp for the state teams as they prepare for the forthcoming Khelo India Winter Games for better results and performance during the games.
