Srinagar- Srinagar Police, as part of its public outreach programme, distributed COVID-19 Safety Kits among the needy and poor families after imparting awareness about the Coronavirus.
“Prevailing pandemic of COVID-19 has resulted into unprecedented hardships to people worldwide and in its endeavours Srinagar Police reached out to the destitute families by way of providing Survival Ration Kits, Life Saving Medicine”, a police spokesman said.
Safety kits were distributed in four Police Zones of Srinagar City and on 30th of this month Srinagar Police organized a function Under Civic Action Programme. During the function awareness about the COVID-19 virus was imparted to the gathering of beneficiaries and officers. Protection Kits were distributed among 93 BPL ( Below Poverty Line) families of East Zone.
The function held at Amar Singh Club Sonwar, Srinagar was presided over by SSP Srinagar Dr. M. Haseeb Mughal-JKPS. On the occasion SSP Srinagar shared some helpful thoughts with the gathering to aware them about the precautions and preventions one must adhere to. SSP Srinagar emphasized upon some preventive measures in the times of pandemic, each one must follow.
SP East Ms Sheema Nabi-IPS was convenor of the programme and the officers of East Zone SDPO Nehru Park, SDPO Kothibagh, SHO R.M.Bagh and SHO Masiuma attended the function.
Giving details he said police attended distress calls and provided various type of emergency support to the needy during the pandemic.
Medical Emergency
Distress calls attended and responded were 232, medicines provided to 66 patients in need, Transport provided to 72 patients to reach hospital and assistance to 95 families to take the patients to hospital.
Survival Kits
Distress calls received were 1732 and Survival Ration Kits were provided to 650 destitute families.

4. Avoid Close Contact and maintain the prescribed distance
5. Take proper precautions while using Public Transport
6. Don’t Panic in case you are affected by the Virus, get medical attention.
The distributed Kit contained following items:
1. Digital Thermometer = 01 No.
2. Oxymeter = 01 No.
3. Masks = 27 Nos
4. Sanitizers = 04 Bottles.
5. Hand Gloves = 01 Box
6. Face Shields = 12 Nos
