Srinagar: Jammu-Srinagar, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with rest of India, shall remain closed for next four consecutive Thursday for repairs, officials said on Saturday.
“In order to undertake major repairs and maintenance of the highway, the Government has declared every Thursday falling on February 4, 11, 18 & 25 as dry days. Please avoid journeys on the above notified days on the Highway,” reads an advisory issued by Deputy Commissioner Ramban and shared on twitter.
Meanwhile, there will be one-way traffic tomorrow from Jammu towards Kashmir Valley.
“Tomorrow (January 31) subject to fair weather and better road condition only one way traffic shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar including Ramban- Banihal (local traffic) on Jammu-Srinagar highway,” a traffic department official said. “No vehicle carrying even live stock or fresh perishable shall be allowed in the opposite direction,” the official added.
Meanwhile, Mughal road, connecting Shopian and Poonch districts, also remained closed due to the snowfall. Srinagar-Leh highway was officially closed on the orders of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir on December 30.
