Srinagar: The residents of Wanabal area in Rawalpora quarter of the city have alleged the police of inaction in dealing with the increasing menace of thefts in the area.
Scores of residents particularly from Shaheen colony Wanabal which has been at the receiving end of buglers said that from more than one month, thieves have let loose a reign of terror in the area by burgling several houses during night hours & decamping with valuables.
“The masked men could be seen roaming at night in CCTV footage which is in possession of some of the victims. They could be seen snapping the main power supply before entering any particular house. They burgled two houses in two consecutive days in Shaheen colony recently,” residents said.
The residents accused police of inaction despite bringing into their notice.
“Nothing concrete has been done,”said Zahoor Ahmad-one of the victims whose house was burgled recently.
Residents of the area have urged the higher police officials to take cognizance of the matter and put an end to the frequent burglaries in the area.
