Srinagar: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested four gamblers in a raid in Zakura area of this capital city.
Acting on an input, a team from police station Zakura carried out a raid at Shah Hamdan Colony and arrested four gamblers from the spot, a police spokesperson said Saturday. Besides playing cards, he said, an amount of Rs 79000 was also recovered from their possession.
“They have been arrested and shifted to PS Zakura where they remain in custody,” he added.
The police spokesperson identified the accused as Manzoor Ahmed Dar, Bilal Ahmad Wani, Javid Ahmad Khan and Fayaz Ahmad Bhat.
“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 06/2021 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Zakura and investigation has been initiated,” he added.
