Srinagar: The army has said the news report by few agencies and newspapers stating that a local youth was tortured by an Army major at Pazlipura camp is devoid of truth.
According to a statement , on May 7, the polling booths in general area Sopore were subjected to heavy stone pelting. Consequently, the Police and PMF deployed at Pazlipura requested Army to rescue them. Army vehicles and personnel who came in their rescue were also subjected to stone pelting putting the lives of soldiers into grave danger. Large number of Army vehicles were damaged. Despite this, under able command of Major Abhishek, troops exhibited commendable restraint and did not respond by acting against them. Entire incident was videographed.
Mudasir was one of the main miscreants against whom the local unit was to lodge an FIR and legal recourse thereof. However, keeping the future of the youth in consideration, it was decided that the youth be counseled and brought to right path. Accordingly, the youth alongwith his uncle who is in Police and two Sarpanchs were called to the camp. The youth was explained that such acts under misguidance of inimical elements can ruin his future and even make him guilty of crimes such as death and injury. The youth was then left after an NOC was taken from them.
It is reiterated that if such acts of benevolence are distorted and published, they will only block the initiatives of organizations to bring the youth on right path. It is requested that the complete facts and truth may please be brought out in the news.
