Bandipora: Amid heavy snowfall and with roads still impassable in Hajin area of this north Kashmir district, a mother-to-be was forced on Wednesday to walk around 5 kilometres while being nine months pregnant.
A resident of Kosumbagh Hakabra Hajin area, she walked on foot as the road from Hakabara to Safapora is still clogged with snow, Fayaz Ahmad, her husband said.
“In such a condition, she walked rather struggled for a two-hour before reaching mid way to the health centre when a vehicle was available.”
When contacted AEE R&B Sumbal, he said that the snow was cleared from the road stretch from Hakabara to Safapora. “However more snowfall accumulated on the road and is being cleared soon.” . The snow was cleared later.
Dr Muzaffar ,Medical Officer Community Health Centre (CHC) told a local news agency GNS that no call was received on the helpline number which has established for emergency purposes.
“We would have made best efforts to reach out to the family,” he said.
