PATTAN: In a bid to evade arrests, three drug peddlers on way from Palhalan to Pattan in a Tata Sumo vehicle collided with a Maruti car injuring two persons seriously. Police however managed to arrest the ug supplier while two of his associates fled from the spot.
Police sources told that acting on a tip off, police tried to stop a Tata Sumo (JK05B-7110) in which three notorious ug suppliers were present. The ug suppliers tried to give police a slip and did not stop.
The main ug supplier lost control over his vehicle and collided with a private Maruti car (JK05C-3761). Two persons were critically injured in the incident whom we referred to SKIMS for treatment, a police official told adding that one out of three ug suppliers was arrested on spot and in large quantity the banned ug was recovered from his possession.
The police official further said that the seized the Tata-Sumo and registered a case vide FIR number 66/2014 under section 8/22 NDPS Act against the arrested ug supplier Shabir Bhat son of Muhammad Akbar Bhat resident of Palhalan Pattan.
Police has launched a hunt to nab the two mor ug suppliers who managed to fled the spot. We are looking for Showkat Mian son of Sanaullah resident of Mian Mohalla Pattan and Ishfaq Rather son of Abdula Rashid resident of Goshbugh Pattan and they would be arrested soon, police said.
