Army rescues 140 stranded passengers
Srinagar: Army came to the rescue for 140 stranded passengers at Nasta Chun pass, Tangdhar in frontier district Kupwara and evacuated them safely.
At least 140 passengers including women and children got stranded between Nasta Chun pass and Tangdhar due to heavy snowfall and inclement weather.
Army said that despite inhospitable and inclement weather conditions, avalanche rescue team of Army sprung into action and rushed for the rescue of hapless stranded passengers and evacuated them safely.
The BRO persons also pressed a snow clearing dozer into service to clear the road for the traffic.
Police officer died in harness
PATTAN: Divisional Officer Police Station Mirgund Shabir Noor resident of Chadoora breathed his last at SKIMS after brief illness. He was 30.
DIG North Kashmir Ghulam Hasan Bhat, SSP Baramulla, and Inspector Mehboob Hussain expressed grief over the sudden demise of the said police officer.
Man found hanging in Leh
Srinagar: Kunchok Namgail son of Tashi Angdu resident of Chamda at present Tasgi Gyaltsal Leh was found hanging in his home. He was shifted to SMHS Hospital Leh where Doctors declared brought dead. Police has registered a case under section 174 CrPC in this regard, a police statement issued to KNS said
Girl missing in Ganderbal
Srinagar: Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Barruna Bugh Kangan reported in Police Station Kangan, Ganderbal that his daughter Afroza Banoo is missing since 06-04-2014 from Kangan, a police statement issued to KNS said.
Boy missing in Srinagar
Srinagar: Rahul Yadau son of Sri Radal Yadau resident of Gram Jangle Kushi Nagar Uttar Pradesh reported in Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh that his friend Bharath Bharti son of Sri Khedu Prasad resident of Vishampora Kushi Nagar Utterpradesh is missing since 16-04-2014 from Shivpora, Srinagar, a police statement issued to KNS said.
Body recovered
Srinagar: An unidentified semi decomposed male body was fished out from river Jehlum near Gassi Mohalla, Safakadal. Height 5.7ft wearing maroon coloured sweater and black coloured pants. Proceedings under section 174/CrPC initiated into the matter, a police statement said.
Vehicle stolen in Anantang
Srinagar: Sajad Ahmad Ahanger son of Nazir Ahmad resident of KP Road, Anantang reported in Police Station Anantnag that his vehicle 207 TATA Mobile bearing registrartion number JK03B/0252 was stolen by some unknown persons during intervening night of 17/18 April, a police statement said.
