SRINAGAR: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Muftis cavalcade was stoned in south Kashmirs Yaripora on Saturday when she arrived in the town to campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Reports said a group of youth had attacked the cavalcade of an independent candidate in the morning by pelting stones at the vehicles. When Mehbooba arrived in the town, she also faced stones. Within minutes, the shopkeepers downed their shutters and locals vanished from the place where Mehbooba was supposed to meet people, a police official said.
Reports said Mehbooba was not able to address the people with the situation tense in the town.
