Srinagar: At least eight more people succumbed to coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, taking the death toll due to virus in the Union Territory past 1700-mark.
In Jammu division, five more people died of Covid-19 while three others lost their battle with the deadli infection in Kashmir Valley, officials said Tuesday. Among the victims from Jammu division an 82-year-old man from Udhampur, an 86-year-old from Trikuta Nagar Jammu, a 52-year-old from man from R S Pura and a 44-year-old man and a 35-year-old from Kathua.
Those who succumbed to the virus in Valley include two residents of Srinagar and one from Anantnag.
With these deaths, the total fatality count in the Valley has reached 1107 and 595 in the Jammu region. the J&K has reported 100 deaths in around 13 days, the officials said.
Srinagar district with 418 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (302), Baramulla (163), Budgam (101), Pulwama (86), Kupwara (83), Anantnag (79), Doda (56), Bandipora (51), Kulgam (51), Rajouri (49), Udhampur (50), Ganderbal (38), Shopian (37), Kathua (39), Samba (30), Poonch (22), Ramban (18), Kishtwar(18), and Reasi (9).
454 More Test Positive
Jammu and Kashmir reported on Tuesday 454 fresh cases of novel coronavirus, including thirteen travelers, taking the total number of people infected by the virus in Union Territory to 110678.
While Kashmir division reported 237 new cases of Covid-19, the remaining 217 were detected in Jammu division, officials said Tuesday.
Giving district wise details, they said, Srinagar reported 118, Baramulla 18, Budgam 45, Pulwama 9, Kupwara 10, Anantnag 10, Bandipora 13, Ganderbal 6, Kulgam 3, Shopian 5, Jammu 95, Rajouri 25, Udhampur 25, Doda 13, Kathua 20, Poonch 3, Samba 7, Kishtwar 6, Ramban 9 and Reasi 14.
Moreover, they said, 503 more patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 230 from Jammu Division and 273 from Kashmir Valley.
