JAMMU: Roshni Land Scam took a new turn on Wednesday when the State Vigilance Commission examined the much publicized case diaries and inquired about the progress of the investigation from SSP Vigilance Organization Jammu R.P.Chilotra and Koshil Sharma, SP Central SVO.
Under Roshni scheme ownership rights have been conferred with regard to a prime land in Jammu in favour of a prominent businessman and in which State Vigilance Organization has registered a case vide FIR number 6/2014 against the beneficiary and the officials of the Revenue Department and Jammu Development Authority.
SSP VOJ submitted that he has already seized the records from the office of the Deputy Commissioner Jammu while the record is yet to be received from the Divisional Commissioner office Jammu and Jammu Development Authority.
He submitted that since the election process is on as such the office of the Divisional Commissioner and JDA could not provide the records.
SSP VOJ further submitted that investigation is in progress and further steps will also be taken on receipt of the records.
The State Vigilance Commission directed Advocate Sahil Sharma appearing on behalf of JDA to file the statement of facts before the next date of hearing that has been listed on April 3 next month.
Pertinently, SVO after unearthing multi-crore Roshni land scam has registered a formal case against the senior functionaries of Revenue Department, Jammu Development Authority and a particular beneficiary. The investigation of the case is in progress and the FIR has been formally registered under section 5 (1) (d) read with section 5 (2) prevention of corruption act 2006 and section 120 B RPC and section 17 of J&K state land (vesting of ownership to the occupants) act 2001 and the investigation has been entrusted to Rajesh Sharma Inspector Jammu wing of Police Station Vigilance Organization Jammu.
