Srinagar: Police Thursday foiled UN chalo March organized by Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement by arresting Fareeda Behanji along with her workers.
Scores of Mass Movement workers led by its chairperson Fareeda Behanji protested on Thursday against the enforced disappearances of hundreds of youth allegedly at the hands of Indian Security Forces and tried to take out a march towards UN office located at Sonawar Srinagar.
The activists were carrying placards and banners seeking whereabouts of the Kashmiri disappeared persons. Talking to reporters one of the leaders of the organization, Fareeda Behanji said that countless Kashmiri youth disappeared during militancy period and nobody knows where Indian security forces kept them. She said that Indian troopers arrested my father and others including Muhammad Sidique Sofi, and Javid Ahmed Shala 12 years ago and till date their whereabouts is not known.
