JAMMU: A meeting was convened at PCR Srinagar this afternoon in order to discuss and review the security, deployment arrangements for upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in the Kashmir Province.
The meeting was chaired by Special Director General of Police, Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar and was attended by senior police and para-military officers.
Rajendra impressed upon the participants to implement the action plan strictly for the security of candidates and polling booths. He said that the security arrangements for polling booths should be put in place keeping in view the sensitiveness of the area. Besides maintaining law and order during the election campaigning, security of the candidates should be focussed on priority so that people could participate freely in democratic process, he said.
He stressed for better coordination among the forces to ensure free and fair elections. He said that joint meetings should be conducted frequently at different levels and share the inputs so that timely action is taken to deal any situations.
During the meeting, Special DGP sought reports from range DIsGP and para-military officers present in the meeting about security scenario in their respective areas. He said that joint efforts should be put in place to ensure peace and security at all places to thwart sinister designs of bad elements. He urged for greater synergy among the agencies involved in the process for smooth conduct of elections.
Rajendra discussed deployment plan and logistic arrangements for the additional forces being deployed for election duty. He said that besides JKP and other para-military forces, additional companies of PMF are arriving and efficient arrangements for their mobility and accommodation has been chalked out to ensure peaceful elections.
Earlier, the IGP Kashmir Zone, Mr. A. G. Mir apprised the meeting about the steps taken for deployment of personnel in different constituencies. He also briefed the meeting about the movement of forces from one constituency to other for their deployment. Senior officers from para-military forces informed the meeting about their working plan for ensuring the smooth conduct of the elections in the valley.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADGP (Headquarters) Mr. S.P.Vaid, IsGP, Mr. Arun Kumar and Mr. Sunill Kumar, IsGP (CRPF) Mr. Nalin Prabhat and P.R. Singh, DIsG, Syed Afadul Mujtaba and Mr. Ghulam Hassan Bhat, DIG (BSF), Mr. T.K. Upadhai, DIG (CRPF), Mr. K.M. Yadav, AIG (P/T) PHQ, Mr. A.A.Kakroo, SSP, Mr. Amit Kumar, SsP, Mr.Junaid Mehmood, Mr. Imtiyaz Husain Mir and other police officers.
