SRINAGAR: A Kashmiri student died after he allegedly fell from his school hostel building in Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), reports reaching here said on Friday.
According to police, Muhammad Shafi, a 17-year-old class 11 student of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kamla Nehru Nagar of Ghaziabad allegedly fell to death from his school hostel building in Kavi Nagar area late last night under mysterious circumstances.
Safi, son of an army man, lives with his family in Leh currently.
Quoting police, reports said Shafi fell to death from second floor of the hostel building at around 12.30 AM last night. The boy was shifted to the nearby Sarvodaya Hospital where he breathed his last at around 6 AM Friday,” these reports said.
Reports quoted an unnamed police officer saying: It is yet to be ascertained whether he jumped off or it was an accident or somebody pushed him from the balcony.
“Police are interrogating Shafi’s roommate and other inmates to get some leads in the case. Besides, we are also questioning the hostel and school management,” the officer added.
He said police had sent his body for medical examination, and added Safi’s parents had been informed about the incident. Police are investigating the case, he said.
KNS ADDS: The post mortem carried out has revealed that the cause of his death was a sudden shock and haemorrhage.
The inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir A.G.Mir said that his department has also received information about the death of a 17 year old boy in Ghaziabad and that the state police was also looking into the matter. We are in touch with the Ghaziabad police and are monitoring the investigations, said IG Kashmir.
