Srinagar – To ensure safety and welfare of the workers, the registration of the factories has been made mandatory under Factories Act by the Central and State Governments.
According to the Factories Act, 1948, if any provision of this Act or any rules made under this Act or any order given in writing under this Act is violated, the occupier and manager of the factory shall each be guilty of an offence, punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extend to one lakh rupees or with both and if the violation is continued after conviction, with a further fine which may extend to one thousand rupees for each day on which the violation if so continued.
All the factory owners who have not registered their factories till date under Factories Act are instructed to approach the office of the Inspector of Factories and Boilers, Kashmir immediately for getting their factories registered under Factories Act to avoid prosecution in the court of law.
