Srinagar: The authorities at the Kashmir University on Friday said that they were considering the admission process of hundreds of left out students, who had applied for various post-graduate courses ‘without completing’ the requisite formalities.
On Wednesday, a group of students had told Kashmir Observer that the University has withheld results of over 300 students, who appeared in PG entrance tests in September. They further alleged that the University had released a list of selected students on October 7 but it was full of discrepancies. They had also alleged being left out in the admission process without any reason.
However, Registrar KU, Prof Nisar Ahmad told Kashmir Observer on Friday that the students were at fault as they had not completed requisite formalities to obtain admission in the University.
“The students don’t admit their mistake. The minimum eligibility to take admission in any post-graduate course is that the student must be a graduate. And we can only know about it when we are in possession of a student’s graduation certificate,” Ahmad said.
“These students have not uploaded the final year marksheet or certificate with their forms. Instead, they had given it to others for uploading but they failed. How are we to be blamed for that?” he asked.
The KU Registrar further said that the University has given an option to the aspiring students to submit hard copies of their graduation certificates so that a call on their admission can be taken.
“When we don’t know if the students are graduate or under-graduate what can we do? When we published a list of all the candidates, why would we withhold their results? Now, we have asked them for hard copies of certificates and we are consolidating that information. Hopefully, it will be positive,” he added.
