Srinagar: Unidentified gunmen on Thursday shot at and injured a former militant in Kakpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
30-year-old ex-militant Tanveer Ahmad Sofi was fired upon by unknown gunmen near the branch of J&K Bank in Kakpora area of the district on Thursday evening, officials said. Sofi, they said sustained serious bullet injuries in the attack and was removed to the nearby hospital for treatment.
Sofi, officials said was earlier associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit. He had given up arms and was later engaged as a daily wager in Sericulture department.
Soon after the incident, government forces reached the spot and cordoned off the area to nab the attackers.
