621 New Cases Include 37 Travelers
Srinagar: At least twelve people died of coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, raising the number of fatalities due to the deadly infection across the Union Territory to 1284.
While seven more people succumbed to Covid-19 in Jammu division, the remaining five lost battle with the virus in Kashmir valley, officials said.
Among the victims in Jammu division, three were residents of Jammu district, two from Rajouri and one each from Doda and Samba, they said. The victims included a 52-year-old from Jeewan Nagar, a 67-year-old from Kotli Shah Doula and a 62-year-old from Roop Nagar Jammu.
Among others who died in Valley include a 45-year-old man from Pulwama and a 70-year-old from Meeraq Shah Abad Shalimar.
Regarding the man from Pulwama, they said that he was admitted on October 6 at hospital here and died today.
The septuagenarian, they said, died at SMHS hospital, five days after he was admitted with bilateral community acquired pneumonia, a doctor at the hospital said.
With these deaths, officials said, 1884 people have succumbed to the virus in Jammu and Kashmir so far—884 from the Valley and 402 from Jammu division.
Srinagar district with 310 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (209), Baramulla (126), Budgam (88), Pulwama (73), Kupwara (71), Anantnag (69), Kulgam (43), Bandipora(40), Shopian (32), Rajouri (32), Ganderbal (30), Doda (37), Kathua (28), Samba (23), Udhampur (21), Poonch (17), Ramban (11), Kishtwar(11) and Reasi (6).

Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir reported on Wednesday 621 fresh cases of coronavirus, including thirty seven travelers, taking the total number of people infected by the virus to 81097.
Among the fresh cases, 260 were from Jammu Division and 361 from Kashmir Valley even as 2188 patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals.
Giving district wise breakup of the cases, they said, Srinagar reported 143 of them, Budgam 51, Baramulla 50, Pulwama 25, Kupwara 18, Anantnag 20, Bandipora 15, Ganderbal 22, Kulgam 5 and Shopian 12, Jammu 83, Rajouri 36, Udhampur 10, Doda 24, Kathua 10, Poonch 14, Samba 22, Ramban 10, Kishtwar 21 and Reasi 30.
Moreover, they said, 2188 more Covid-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals— 1629 from Jammu Division and 559 from Kashmir Valley.
