Covid-19 Crosses 80K Mark With 738 New Cases
Srinagar: As many as seventeen more people, including a mother-son duo succumbed to coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, taking the number of fatalities due to the virus in the Union Territory to 1272.
According to the officials, a 75-year-old woman and her 34-year-old son from Dalgate died, days after they were admitted to the CD hospital here, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of covid-19 patients in the Valley. They said that a 54-year-old man from Bolachipora Srinagar, who was admitted on September 11, died at SKIMS Soura.
Also, officials said that a 65-year-old man from Batamallo, who was admitted to SKIMS Soura on October 2 died at the hospital. Besides him, a 45-year-old woman from Aalikadal Srinagar who was admitted to the SKIMS Soura hospital on 25 September died this evening.
A 74-year-old man from Hazratbal Anantnag also died at tertiary care hospital here, 11 days after he was admitted there.
Also, they said, a 26-year-old man from Kargil died at SKIMS Soura where he was admitted today.
Among others, the other victims from the Valley include a 75-year-old man from Aaluchibagh Srinagar, a 65-year-old woman from Mir Danter and an 82-year-old from Chogul Handwara.
Among eight fatalities from Jammu includes a 38-year-old from Rehari Jammu, a 25-year-old woman of Simbliwal Jammu and a 46-year-old Jagti Nagrota.
With these deaths, 1272 people have succumbed to injuries in Jammu and Kashmir including 877 from Valley and 395 from Jammu.

Meanwhile Coronavirus cases zoomed past 80,000 mark in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, as 738 more people, including forty-four travelers tested positive for the deadly infection taking the total number of people infected by the virus in the Union Territory to 80476.
While Jammu division reported 290 new cases of Covid-19, the remaining 448 were detected from the Kashmir Valley, officials said. Among the new cases, officials said included 12 security personnel, a baby and a doctor.
Giving district wise breakup, officials said, Srinagar reported 183 cases, Budgam 46, Baramulla 37, Pulwama 55, Kupwara 42, Anantnag 22, Bandipora 30, Ganderbal 20, Kulgam 4, Shopian 9, Jammu 91, Rajouri 27, Udhampur 14, Doda 26, Kathua 18, Poonch 12, Samba 29, Ramban 14, Kishtwar 31 and Reasi 28.
Meanwhile, 1706 more Covid-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals— 1145 from Jammu Division and 561 from Kashmir Valley.
