Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday deputed over fifty officials from different departments to serve the administration in the Union Territory of Ladakh “in the interest of the administration and as a provisional measure”
In an order issued on Monday by the Jammu and Kashmir government’s General Administration Department, 54 government employees have been placed at the disposal of the Union Territory of Ladakh, on deputation basis with immediate effect.
Among those deputed to the newly carved Union Territory include Assistant Professors, Assistant Executive Engineers, Junior Engineers, Works Supervisor, Lab assistant, Draftsman, Technician, Account cum Store Keeper, senior and junior assistants and at least 14 helpers.
“The deputation of above officers/officials shall be for a period of two years or till final allocation is made in terms of Section 89(2) of J&K Re-Organisation Act, 2019, whichever is earlier,” reads the order issued by Commissioner/ Secretary to the government, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi
The order further says that the lien and promotion prospects of the officers/officials shall remain with their respective parent departments during the period of deputation.
“They shall be entitled to avail incentives as may be made available in due course of time and they shall report to the General Administration Department, Union Territory of Ladakh for further posting,” the order adds.
The order of deputing government employees from Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory to run the offices of UT Ladakh comes over a year after the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was split into two union territories after special status accorded at the time of accession by the Union of India was revoked by the Modi-led BJP government on August 5.
