Srinagar: Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) President and MLA Langate, Engineer Rashid today said that no solution to Kashmir issue was possible without active involvement of United Jihad Council (UJC) chief Syed Salahuddin.
Replying to Governor N N Vohras address to state legislature Engineer Rashid said I want to remind the Indian leadership that they conducted a dialogue with the five Hizbul Mujahideen commanders at the Nehru Guest House in Srinagar and now calling Syed Salahuddin a terrorist has no rationale.
He also called upon the central government to initiate a meaningful and result orient dialogue with Hurriyat and Jihad Council.
Engineer Rashid also called upon the National Conference and PDP leadership to present the copies of supposed letters written by their respective party presidents to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over Afzal Guru issue. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Opposition leader Mehbooba Mufti have time and again stated that Farooq Abdullah and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed respectively have written letters to Manmohan Singh to return mortal remains of Afzal Guru. If such letters have really been written they should be presented before Assembly so that we are convinced that NC and PDP are not lying to nation. All the more, if actually these letters have been written it would be clear before everybody that New Delhi does not care about Kashmir and gives no heed even to letters written by Farooq Abdullah and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
While reflecting on the need to solve Kashmir issue Rashid observed, For providing the people of Kashmir everlasting relief we need to solve Kashmir and for this I am ready to cooperate with anyone ranging from Narendra Modi to Syed Salahuddin if they show desired seriousness in solving this issue.
While criticizing the National Conference and PDP leadership for failing to make it clear whether Autonomy or self rule was acceptable to Congress Rashid also lambasted Congress for failing to reveal its stand on this crucial issue.
Rashid also criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for acting as agent of Congress in its game-plan to harm indigenous identity of Kashmiris and expressed displeasure over the failure of Assembly to summon former Army Chief General V K Singh.
Expressing anger over ex-minister Shabir Khan continuously evading arrest over molestation charges, Engineer Rashid Said, If police and army have to arrest a militant they do the same within no time while they are failing to arrest the enemies of Kashmir. All this proves that enemies of Kashmiris enjoy patronage from New Delhi.
Rashid called for ending seizure of house of elderly Peoples League Leader Ghulam Mohammad Khan Sopori and called the move as a harassment tactic aimed at breaking will of Kashmiris by security agencies. If Omar Abdullah has any moral courage left he should immediately ensure that house is restored back to Ghulam Mohammad Khan so that his family does not have to face further troubles.
